What is a BIA?
BIA stands for Business Improvement Area. The Port Perry BIA is a non-profit organization that is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and various committees. The board is responsible for overseeing the planning, budgeting, implementing, and evaluating of BIA projects.
The businesses (commercial and/or industrial) located in Downtown Port Perry, from Mary Street to Simcoe Street to North Street to Water Street, make up our Business Improvement Area (BIA).
These building and store owners contribute funds independently via a municipal tax levy. The elected BIA Board of Directors allocates and manages the funds towards the beautification and marketing of Downtown Port Perry, along with events that take place within the geographical boundaries.
HISTORY & MISSION
The Port Perry BIA was established in 1989 under the Provincial Municipal act. The Port Perry BIA is dedicated and responsible for beautifying, promoting, and marketing the downtown core while making it an exciting place to visit year-round.
